Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car, ID Released: State Police

Two people inside the Audi were taken to a hospital, including a passenger who sustained serious injuries, state police said.

HARWINTON, CT — Kevin C. Gangell, 24, of Harwinton, was killed when he was struck by a car Sunday, state police said.

At 11:53 a.m., state police responded to the area of 181 Clearview Avenue for a report of a car vs. pedestrian collision.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Audi was traveling on Clearview Avenue southbound when "for an unknown reason veered off the southbound shoulder, striking (Gangell), and then a rock embankment," state police said.

Gangell was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police at 860-626-7900.
