Report Of Stranger Offering Student Ride Home In Watertown A ‘Misunderstanding’: Police

There was no threat to students or the community, according to police.

WATERTOWN, CT — Police have determined the stranger who approached a local student this week was actually a new driver, and the whole incident was a misunderstanding, according to police.

On Thursday, police told the community an unknown person approached a student as he was walking home from school that day and asked if he needed a ride, which the student declined.

It happened in the vicinity of Swift Middle School, according to police, who launched an investigation.
