Wendy's plans to turn up the heat this summer with a new "Takis Fuego Meal," available in Wendy's restaurants in the U.S. starting Friday and restaurants in Canada beginning June 30, according to a news release posted to the company's website.

According to Wendy's, the new menu will feature two special items: a Takis Fuego Chicken Sandwich and Takis-inspired Fuego Fries.

The company noted customers will be able to enjoy "a whole new take on Takis" with a sandwich that consists of Wendy's spicy chicken filet topped with crushed Takis Fuego chips, chili lime sauce, creamy corn spread and a cheddar cheese sauce to "create a one-of-a-kind sandwich that is equal parts spicy, crunchy and savory."

Customers can also shake up their meal with Wendy's new Fuego Fries, the chain's classic hot and crispy fries tossed in a tangy chili lime seasoning and served in a custom-made tear away bag for easy access.

Both items can be ordered as the Takis Fuego Meal or a la carte. Heat seekers can also enjoy a bag of Takis Fuego chips, available only as part of the new meal while supplies last, according to Wendy's.

"At Wendy's, we know how to keep things spicy, and we love serving up fresh, famous collaborations that tap into consumers passion points, which made this partnership with Takis a no brainer," Lindsay Radkoski, chief marketing officer for The Wendy's Company, said in a news release. "By joining forces with such an iconic and beloved snacking brand, we're turning up the heat and flavor in a way only Wendy's can!"

Sandra Kirkpatrick, director of marketing at Barcel USA, the U.S. snack division of Grupo Bimbo for which Takis is the most well-known brand, said the company was beyond excited to join forces with a powerhouse brand like Wendy's that shares its passion for intensity and flavor.

"Takis fans are known for turning up the flavor," Kirkpatrick said in a news release, "and now we're taking it to the next level with Wendy's. We've seen how our fans love adding Takis chips to everything, and together we're delivering a spicy, unforgettable experience that's made for heat seekers. Get ready to taste the thrill!"

Wendy's also announced last week it will collaborate with snack brand Cheez-It on the new "Cheez-It x Wendy's Baconator Crackers," a combination of Wendy's beloved Baconator taste and Cheez-It's signature cheesy crunch, set to hit store shelves this summer.

Coffee and donut chain Dunkin' recently teamed up with Paige DeSorbo, a fashion influencer and television personality known for her hit podcast "Giggly Squad" and the Bravo reality television series "Summer House," to announce a new pink spritz flavor of its popular "refreshers" beverages.
