'A Radiant Warrior': Community Rallies Around Family After CT Woman's Death

A 38-year-old woman is being remembered after she "fought bravely for 8 years.​"

SHARON, CT — The community is showing support for a family following the death of a 38-year-old woman.

Nicole Somma, a native of Sharon, passed away Oct. 10.

"Nicole was a radiant warrior with an immense heart and an unbelievable joy for life," according to a GoFundMe in her honor. "She fought bravely for 8 years."

The fundraiser was started by Lisa Gomez.

"She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend, and the glue that held her family together with her boundless love and selflessness," the GoFundMe reads. "Her presence filled every room with happiness, her bright smile and big blue eyes were unmatched.

"Nicole’s passing has left Jay and her closest family and friends in profound grief. As the heart of our family, her absence leaves a void that words cannot capture. But in true Nicole fashion, we’re coming together to honor her legacy, ensuring she is laid to rest with the dignity and joy she embodied."

The fundraiser is intended to support Jason Somma with funeral expenses and "immediate needs as he navigates this heartbreaking time."

As of Wednesday afternoon, the GoFundMe had generated $41,384 on 236 donations.

Nicole Somma was remembered for being passionate about her family and "culinary experiences that brought people together," according to her obituary.

"Selfless to her core, she always put others before herself, especially her beloved nephews, Gio, Matteo, and Alex, who adored their amazing auntie," the obituary reads. "Nicole’s time with them was filled with joy and warmth, creating memories they will forever treasure."
