Registration Open For Denise D'Ascenzo Foundation Golf Tournament

Calling all golfers who want to play a championship course and help worthy organizations at the same time. Golfers of all skills are invited to register to play in the inaugural Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 20th at Wethersfield Country Club at 76 Country Club Rd. in Wethersfield, Conn. The benefit golf tournament event will raise funds for The Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to continue longtime Connecticut broadcaster Denise D’Ascenzo’ s legacy of love and kindness by supporting advances in medicine and health, promoting responsibility in the media, and assisting those facing physical and mental challenges.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and includes an 11 a.m. barbecue lunch. Tee-off is at 12 noon for 18 holes of golf in a Scramble format, golf carts, and a clubhouse dinner banquet with an auction/awards banquet emceed by local personalities including WFSB-TV 3’s Kara Sundlun and Scot Haney, and WTNH-TV 8’s Dennis House who serves as President of the Foundation. In addition, all players receive a complimentary tournament gift, and can compete for a variety of on-course golf prizes.

The full day of play and events is $300 per individual golfer, twosomes are $600, and foursomes are $1,200. A variety of sponsorship packages also are available now for businesses, organizations, and individuals.
“We look forward to our first-ever golf tournament and meeting the many people and companies who are supporting our organization,” explains Wayne Cooke, Denise’s husband and the Executive Director of The Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation. “They help to make it possible for us to provide funds and assist causes that include the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), Connecticut Foodshare as part of Connecticut’s Millions of Meals campaign, and Hartford Hospital workers in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, among others.”

The Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to continue Denise’s legacy of love and kindness by supporting advances in medicine and health, promoting responsibility in the media, and assisting those facing physical and mental challenges. The Foundation was established shortly after the broadcaster’s sudden death in December 2019. At that time, she was Connecticut’s longest-serving news anchor with over 33 years, all at WFSB-TV 3. Since its establishment, Foundation has raised funds for community donations, including Hartford Hospital workers in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, the Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare as part of Connecticut’s Millions of Meals campaign, the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), and Mary’s Place, A Center for Grieving Children & Families in Windsor, among others.
