Rockabilly, Elvis & Cher: Tribute Shows Abound This Weekend In CT

Music kicks off the month in Connecticut, with fun concerts throughout the state.

CONNECTICUT — Looking to scratch the nostalgia itch? There is a host of musical tribute shows this weekend in Connecticut.

From Elvis to Cher, there are some fun concerts scheduled. Check out what's on tap below.

In Old Saybrook, Jan. 9: One Night in Memphis: There’s a whole lot of shakin’ going on! at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. "Get ready for a night of rockabilly, country, gospel and pure 1950's rock and roll with “One Night in Memphis” - a high energy concert that takes you back to December 4, 1956, the night when four of the biggest names in early rock and roll -- Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash – gathered together for an impromptu jam session at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis."

Aquila's Nest Vineyards in Newtown hosts Elvis Forever: A Birthday Tribute Show on Jan. 9. "Experience the magic, the music, and the legend of Elvis Presley with Rob Lutz—a professional singer, entertainer, and songwriter who has captivated audiences across Connecticut and beyond."

Cher fans rejoice... on Jan. 9 at the Little Theatre of Manchester at Cheney Hall in Manchester: Lisa Carter: The Ultimate Cher Experience. "Lisa Carter returns to Cheney Hall to deliver THE ULTIMATE CHER EXPERIENCE—a dazzling, high-energy tribute to the Goddess of Pop. Get ready to "turn back time" with a spectacular showcase of humor, heart, and six decades of chart-topping hits."

At the Fairfield Theatre Company in Fairfield, singer/songwriter Vonda Shepard is scheduled to perform on Jan. 9. "Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Vonda Shepard has sold over twelve million albums, won two Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards, two Screen Actor’s Guild awards, and is most notably the writer and performer of the original “Searchin’ My Soul”, the theme song for Ally McBeal. She also holds the Billboard prize for selling the most T.V. soundtracks in history."

Bring the family and learn about the landscape and habitat at the New Pond Farm Education Center in Redding on Jan. 10. It's free. "Curious about all that we have to offer? For comedy lovers, there's Comedy Night at Brew Ha ha at River (River: A Waterfront Restaurant and Bar) in Wethersfield on Jan. 10. Katie Arroyo is the headliner.
