Police said they received a complaint that voter registration cards had been altered after a Sept. 17, 2024 national voting event at the Western Connecticut Mental Health Network on Winsted Road.

After the event, Brantley submitted the registration cards to the Torrington registrar of voters office, police said. A clerk inspected the cards and concluded they had been altered, according to police.

Police claim Brantley intentionally altered several voter registration cards by changing the affiliation party from "No" or "Republican" to "Democrat" without the voters’ consent.

Torrington police and the State Elections Enforcement Commission conducted a joint investigation, which resulted in the arrest warrant for Brantley, police said.
