Tennis Legend's CT Mansion Sells For $12M: Reports

Ivan Lendl's 18,000-square-foot grand estate in Litchfield County recently sold for $12 million, according to media reports.

CORNWALL, CT — Tennis legend Ivan Lendl's 18,000-square-foot grand estate in Litchfield County recently sold for $12 million, according to media reports.

Realtor.com reports the sale of Lendl's mansion in Cornwall represents the largest sum ever paid for a home in Litchfield County. The spacious 10-bedroom property, located on over 445 acres, had been on and off the market for a number of years before a buyer recently emerged.

The home boasts a number of stunning features, including both an indoor and outdoor pool, a full-sized gym, a game room, wine room, cabana, barn and tennis court. Lendl's trophies are also currently displayed behind glass in a special room, according to Realtor.com.

Mansion Global reports the estate was sold in late January. It was originally listed for $25 million in 2005 but went through a series of price cuts, with the most recent asking price reported at $14.995 million.

A listing agent declined to identify the buyer but noted they "fell in love with the land and the architecture and the presence of the house," Mansion Global reports.

A former professional tennis player, Lendl is considered by many to be one of the greatest to ever play the sport.

According to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the eight-time major singles champion was a major presence on worldwide tennis courts in the 1980's. Following numerous victories and championship wins, Lendl retired at age 34 following a second round loss at the 1994 U.S. Open.
