Two tractor-trailers crashed in Ashford on I-84 eastbound and both vehicles are now "submerged in the water," WFSB 3 TV reported. Serious injuries have been reported and the state police dive team has responded.

"Last night’s storm resulted in 25 calls for trees down across #CT roads, including I-91," the state Department of Transportation said. "Several of these resulted in crashes & property damage. While most trees have been removed, some are in wires. We ask for patience as #CTDOT & utility crews continue clearing damage & debris."

Towns with more than 100 outages reported include: Cornwall, Ridgefield, West Hartford, Greenwich, New Milford, Thompson, Union, Voluntown, Weston, and Wilton.

"This morning, we’re waking up to a brighter sky. You’ll need the sunglasses, also the winter coat. Temperatures start in the 20s, that will feel more like the teens (perhaps single digits) thanks to the wind," said WFSB 3 TV Chief Meteorologist Mark Dixon. "Then, this afternoon, temps only peak in the 30s (feeling more like the 20s). Not a fan? Well, the shot of colder air is short-lived. Most of the day is dry, but a lake enhanced snow shower could reach the Hills of NW CT.

"As Meteorological spring begins tomorrow, Friday (March 1st), temperatures go back above average with highs in the mid-40s. We’ll end the week with plenty of sunshine and a calmer wind. After sunset, cloud cover increases as an area of low pressure heads our way," Dixon said.

"The chance for rain is coming into better focus. Showers now appear likely Saturday due to an area of low pressure offshore, this in tandem with an onshore flow could keep high temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. Meanwhile, Sunday looks primarily dry but with more clouds than sunshine. It will also be milder, with highs in the 50s," Dixon said. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
