Tractor Trailer Went Partially Off Route 8, Driver Killed: PD
A tractor trailer driver was killed after his vehicle veered off an embankment and partially onto Route 8.
TORRINGTON, CT — A tractor trailer driver and father of four was killed after a crash that ended partially on a Route 8 overpass, according to police.
The truck veered partially off Hayden Hill Road Thursday and struck several mailboxes and a stop sign. It then veered off an embankment on Greenswoods Road and ended up partially on Route 8 below, according to Torrington police.
Emergency crews had difficulty getting to the tractor portion of the truck because the trailer had fallen on top of it.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it may have involved a medical condition or vehicle malfunction, police said.
Police later identified the driver as Mahamadou Keita, 44, of Darby, Pennsylvania, according to NBC Connecticut. He is survived by his wife and four children.
