Yale New Haven Health Data Breach Settlement Moves Forward With $18M Pact
Preliminary approval granted in Yale New Haven Health's $18M data breach settlement; claims due Feb. 18, 2026, with final hearing in March.
CONNECTICUT — A proposed $18 million settlement tied to a Yale New Haven Health Services Corporation data breach affecting about 5.6 million people received preliminary court on Oct. 21.
The breach, discovered in March, exposed private information including names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, race or ethnicity, Social Security numbers, patient types and medical record numbers, according to the settlement website. Those eligible to participate include all U.S. residents who received a notice indicating their information may have been compromised.
A final approval hearing is scheduled for March 3, 2026, at the Richard C. Lee United States Courthouse in New Haven.

How to File a Claim
Claims may be submitted through the Yale New Haven Data Incident Litigation website. Individuals must use the unique ID and PIN included in postcards mailed to potential class members. Those unable to locate their credentials can request assistance at info@YaleNewHavenSettlement.com.

All claims must be filed online or postmarked by Feb. 18, 2026.
Filers must verify their personal information and submit documentation supporting any specific losses they are claiming, according to the settlement administrators.
What Compensation Is Available
Class members may choose between:
- A cash payment of up to $5,000 for documented losses, or
- An “alternate cash” payment that provides an equal-share distribution.
The agreement also includes medical data monitoring services for eligible individuals.
Objections and Exclusions
Anyone wishing to object to the terms of the settlement while remaining in the class must submit their objection by mail to the settlement administrator by Jan. 20, 2026. Requests for exclusion must also be postmarked by that date.
Individuals who take no action will remain part of the settlement but will forfeit the right to pursue separate legal claims and will not receive compensation.
A final decision on the settlement is expected after the March 2026 hearing.
