The BPD is partnering with a local ice cream shop for free ice cream vouchers to be distributed to local kids practicing bike/skate safety.
BERLIN, CT — Safety should be the top motivation for youngsters to wear their helmets while riding their bikes, skateboards, or skates.
But the Berlin Police Department is offering up another sweet incentive to being safe ... literally.
The BPD is partnering with Praline's Ice Cream, which has a shop at 11279 Farmington Ave., Berlin, for its annual "Safe Kids Wear Lids" campaign.

BPD officers will be on the lookout for kids who are being safe and wearing their helmets while biking, boarding, or blading.

The rules are simple, police said, if a kid gets spotted, they will get a voucher for a free ice cream at Praline’s, 1179 Farmington Ave.
Hopefully, the allure of free ice cream will allow children to form potentially life-saving habits while enjoying their self-propelled transportation devices.
