Get Involved with Berlin Children's Fund
The Fund gives Berlin children in need the opportunity to spend a week at an outdoor camp doing all the things some take for granted.

From the Town of Berlin: Sometimes it’s the small moments in life that make people happy. That small experience could be going on a nature hike, performing a skit, swimming very early in the morning or just making a new friend. The Berlin Children’s Fund gives Berlin children in need the opportunity to spend a week at an outdoor camp doing all the things that most take for granted. This opportunity can make a world of difference in a child’s life.
The Berlin Children’s Fund was established in 1969 to give children in Berlin the opportunity to have that summer camp experience. The volunteer committee of 8, along with Doug Truitt Town of Berlin Director of Social and Youth Services, serve on the committee. The committee’s responsibility is to raise funds and show their appreciation to the donors. The Social and Youth Service Department administrates who the camperships go to. Referrals are received from the Berlin Visiting Nurse Association, Berlin School Educators, and the Berlin Community Social and Youth Service Department. There are guidelines for receiving a campership. Doug Truitt can be reached at 860-828-7059 for families who would like to apply for a campership.
The Marjorie Moore Charitable Foundation this fiscal year has awarded a portion of what is needed to accomplish the committee’s goal of sending a number of children who apply for these camperships to camp. That is why there is a need for the Berlin Community to show their support of youth in town that are in need of a campership. There has been a significant increase in need for camperships in the last few years. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated by the committee and the recipients.
