In Memoriam: Harry D. Pentore

Harry D. Pentore, 89, of Kensington, loving husband of Doris (Zola) Pentore for 65 years, died suddenly Thursday (February 11, 2016) at home.

Born in Kensington, son of the late John and the late Mary (Sartor) Pentore, he graduated from Berlin High School, served in the US Army in World War II, attended Central Connecticut State University, and owned and operated Towne Food Center.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, the Berlin Lions Club where he was presently the longest continuous member, and the Italian Political Independent Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Janina Pentore of Kensington, a daughter and son-in-law, Leanne and David Carlson of Kensington, a sister, Elsie Dorau of Kensington, a sister-in-law, Vivian Bergstrom of Glastonbury, six grandchildren, John Pentore and his wife Alyssa, Eric Pentore, Jacquelyn Pentore, Lindsey Paris and her husband Fred, William Carlson, and Mary Kate Carlson, three great-grandchildren, Jack Pentore, and Laura and Ellie Paris, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins including John and Rina Bigotto.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (February 16, 2016) at 9 am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, with a funeral liturgy at 10 am at St. Paul’s Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery in Manchester. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday (February 15, 2016) from 4-7 pm. The Berlin Lions will meet for a service at 6:30 pm.
