BETHEL, CT — Bethel police arrested a local man Tuesday morning who admitted he smoked marijuana just before getting in his vehicle, police said. According to a report, Edward Rivera, 25, of Grandview Avenue was pulled over for driving 43 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on Nashville Road near Briar Cliff Manor. The officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and Rivera admitted to smoking it just before getting into his car.
Police said they found a hunting knife with a six inch blade and a hatchet in the vehicle and arrested him on a weapons charge and driving unreasonably fast. Police said he passed a field sobriety test. Rivera was released on $500 bond and is due in court on Oct. 14, 2016.
