Bethel Police Nab Driver In September Fatal Hit-And-Run
Bethel police apprehended a 65-year-old man in connection with a September fatal hit-and-run on Nashville Road.
BETHEL, CT — Bethel police have arrested a 65-year-old man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in September on Nashville Road.
Officers responded Sept. 22, 2025, to a report of an injured man found along the roadway.
Investigators determined the man had been struck by a northbound vehicle that left the scene before police arrived.

The department activated its Accident Reconstruction Team, and patrol officers conducted a canvass of the area that led to a description of the suspect vehicle, police said.
On Sept. 23, officers conducting a follow-up canvass located a vehicle matching that description with damage consistent with the crash. The vehicle was seized, and police obtained a search warrant. Further testing confirmed it was the vehicle involved in the collision, authorities said.

Investigators later obtained an arrest warrant for the vehicle’s operator and registered owner, Andrew Hitchcock, 65. He was taken into custody and charged with evading responsibility in a fatal accident.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
