We will have exciting, interesting adult activities that you can participate in all summer long on most Thursday evenings, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Join us for activities about the poetry and life of Emily Dickenson, performed by noted actress, Ginger Grace; find out more about the meteoric rise of Taylor Swift; listen to songs from over 25 Broadway gems in “Broadway Magic: Now and Then”. As we enter into the warmer days of Summer, hear about the “Slaves, Freemen, and Haitians in the American Revolution”; “How to Get Started with Genealogy” and how wildlife has adapted to Connecticut’s changing landscape. We round out adult evening programs, with “Paul McCartney and the Beatles: A Multimedia Presentation”, which includes a Paul McCartney-soundalike to perform a set of Beatles acoustic music. We will have Adult Crafts, a non-fiction book club, and our popular Morning Book Chat. Also, eligible this year are our computer instruction programs: Library Resources, Computer Basics, Smartphone Basics, Introduction to Canva, and Simple Sewing. We will have programs on Friday afternoons discussing financial literacy, gardening, and health. Many of our programs are in hybrid format so you will not have to leave the comfort of your home to view. Please check our website (www.bethellibrary.org) to know which programs they are.
As mentioned, programming isn’t the only way to participate; reading a book also gains you an additional entry toward each raffle. Our theme, “Adventure Begins at the Library” means you have the summer to explore our book collection. If you can tie any of your books to the programs that we have this summer, you will get an extra raffle ticket. Maybe you will find a good biography of Emily Dickenson; a book about Taylor Swift or the Beatles; something about the American Revolution; or wildlife in Connecticut. Are you interested in financial literacy? Find a book that addresses that issue. As you will see, there are many ways that you can tie books to programs. If you write a review of either a book or a program, you will earn additional entries toward each raffle. Earn 10 badges to complete the program and earn our completion prize.
