Bethel 2023 Election: Carter To Serve Another Term
Bethel residents cast their votes Tuesday in the 2023 election.
BETHEL, CT — The polls have closed in Bethel and the votes are being counted to determine key races like selectman and Board of Finance.
First Selectman Republican/Independent Dan Carter ran unopposed. He is the former state representative for the 2nd District, from 2011 to 2017. In February, Carter defeated Democrat Rich Straiton in the town's special election for first selectman.

The Democratic candidate is Richard C. Straiton, and the Republican/Independent candidate is Bryan Terzian.
Town Treasurer - Vote for One
The Democratic candidate is Patricia Cosentino, and the Republican/Independent candidate is Paul R. Szatkowski.
Board of Finance — Vote for Up to Three
The Democratic candidates are Greg Henry, Nick Hoffman and Karen Foster. The Republican/Independent candidates are Nicholas J. Ellis, William I. Duff and Cynthia Jean McCorkindale.
Board of Education — Vote for Up to Five
Democrats are Gabriela Hernandez, Cathy Schaefer and Diana Naddeo
Republican/Independents are Scott Anthony Clayton, Jenn Lewis, Daniel Nostin and William Foster.
Courtney Martin is running as a Republican.
Michael Duff is running as an Independent.
Board of Assessment Appeals — Vote for Up to Two
The Democratic candidates are Barbara Lyon and Marissa Allen- Amundsen. The Republican/Independent candidates are Kate Jordan and Bruce A. Cornwell.
Planning and Zoning Commission — Vote for Up to Four
The Democrat candidates are Rob Wallace, Penny Kessler and Allison Lynch St. Germain. The Republicans/Independents are fielding Spruille Braden, Kenny Parsons, Robert J. Legnard, and Michael Kozlowski.

Erik Brudvig is running as a Democrat. Patricia Rist and Diane S. Ryan are on the Republican/Independent tickets.
Zoning Board of Appeals — Vote for Up to Two
Tom Borysiewicz is running as a Democrat. Rick Courchene and William Slifkin are on the Republican/Independent tickets.
Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate— Vote for Up to Two
Myra R. Drucker is running as a Democrat. Gary A. Boughton and Sue Dolan are on the Republican/Independent tickets.
Inland Wetlands Commission — Vote for Up to Two
Patrick M. Perrefort and Danielle Monroe are running as Democrats. Rick Courchene and Don Taylor and Paul Improta are on the Republican/Independent tickets.

Republican/Independent Francis J. Oldham is running unopposed.
Police Commission — Vote for Up to Two
The Democratic candidates are Peter Valenti and Amy Mannion. The Republican/Independent candidates are Andy J. Matturro, Sr and Anthony Rubino.
