Bethel Blight Law: Homeowners Who Don't Mow Lawns Could Be Fined
The Town of Bethel is considering a blight ordinance that will force homeowners to regularly mow their lawns.
BETHEL, CT —Property owners could soon be fined for not mowing their lawns mowed if a blight ordinance the town is considering passes, according to The News Times. The amendment proposal comes after neighbors complained about an abandoned house on Quaker Ridge Road that neighbors said was an eyesore and infested with rats.
If passed, the amendment would allow the town to fine homeowners whose grass is higher than 12 inches for 30 days or more. A public hearing will be scheduled at the end of December.
