Bethel Crematorium Project Resurfaces: Report

The project was not popular amongst many residents and business owners.

BETHEL, CT — A project admonished by many residents and business owners in Bethel resurfaced after an application was rejected in 2015, reports the News Times. An attorney for B. Shawn McLoughlin filed a brief in court recently arguing Superior court should approve a special permit for a crematorium in the Clarke Business Park.

The proposal forced some companies to threaten to leave the industrial park if the project were approved. McLoughlin sued after the town's Planning and Zoning Commission reversed a 2014 decision which would allow him to build the business.

McLoughlin owns property in the park on Trowbridge Drive for his concrete company.
