Bethel Crews Rescue 2 Cats From A House Fire That Turned Complicated

The Bethel Fire Marshal's office is currently investigating the cause of the early morning Windaway Lane fire.

BETHEL, CT — Emergency crews rescued two cats from a Bethel residential fire very early Thursday morning.

No injuries were reported among civilians or first responders.

Bethel Fire & EMS and Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company volunteers responded to the report of a fire on structure fire on Windaway Lane at 3:30 a.m.

The fire was swiftly brought under control by swift and well-coordinated efforts from Bethel Police Department, Bethel Emergency Management & Fire Marshal, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1, Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1. Inc., West Redding Volunteer Fire Department, and Redding Fire & EMS Company #1, according to a report from Bethel Fire & EMS officials.

The Fire Marshal's office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Complicating matters: Shortly after the initial fire dispatch, responders were notified of a potential gas leak in town. Bethel crews managed both incidents without complications.

Making matters worse: Windaway Lane falls within the non-hydrant district of the town.

"Fortunately, an ample water supply was available on-site, and gratitude is extended to the assisting fire departments for their support," Bethel Fire & EMS officials posted on social media.
