Bethel Firefighters Face Fundraiser Fumble Due To Misprinted Envelopes

There's still time to make a donation and save the day. Here's how…

BETHEL, CT — A snafu at the printer has thrown a snag into local firefighters' fundraising.

Every year, Bethel Fire & EMS invites members of the community to donate to its annual fundraiser in support of its operations.

This year, everything was going according to plan until the self-addressed envelopes meant to carry donations back to the firehouse returned from the printer with an obsolete PO Box address. The envelopes still managed to get into donors' hands, however, causing the donations to be returned to the senders.

"We were as surprised as you may have been," Bethel Fire & EMS posted to followers of the volunteer company's Facebook page.

Bethel residents may complete their donations through the drive-up teller window at Newtown Savings Bank in Dolan Plaza at 211 Greenwood Avenue, or online at the fundraiser's website.

"If you stop by the firehouse to deliver it directly, we cannot guarantee someone will be in the building to receive it, but if you see the doors open and we're working, come by and say hi," a fire company spokesperson posted on social media.
