Bethel Hometown Heroes Banners To Line School Street
The Bethel Hometown Heroes Banner Program will make its inaugural debut this year and is sponsored by the Bethel Patriotic Association.

Thirty-nine veteran banners will proudly line School Street on town owned lampposts and will be installed in time for the Bethel Memorial Day parade. The Bethel Hometown Heroes Banner Program will make its inaugural debut this year and is sponsored by the Bethel Patriotic Association with support from the Town of Bethel. The banners have been sold since August.
The program proudly recognizes active duty and veteran service members who have been honorably discharged, both living and deceased. Each banner honors a specific Bethel service member whether a current or past resident of the town and features his or her name, rank, branch of service, era of service (WWI, WWII, Vietnam, etc.), photo, and donor information.
“I am very happy with the response to the program. We received a lot of the applications right up to the closing date,” said Program Advisor Lee Teicholz.

Profits from the program will be used to help support the mission of the Bethel Patriotic Association. The mission of the association is to honor those who have given their lives to protect our freedoms. The Bethel Patriotic Association sponsors many activities, including the Bethel Memorial Day Parade, the annual Veterans Day ceremony and most recently, the Bethel Hometown Heroes Banner Program.
“I know once people see the banners up; more will start inquiring how they can participate in the program as well,” said Bethel Patriotic Association President Bill Hagan.
