Bethel Police Arrest Log, Jan. 1 - Feb. 13

BETHEL, CT — Shoplifting, hit-and-run and various driving-related offenses were among the charges cited by the Bethel Police Department since the start of the new year.


A Bethel man was arrested Feb. 10 for violating a protective order, police said.

Tahan Salafi, 28, was taken into custody at his residence on Payne Road at approximately 10 a.m., according to the Bethel Police Department. Authorities charged Salafi with violating a protective order.

He was released on a $5,000 bond, with a 7 percent option requiring a $350 payment, and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 11.


A Ridgefield woman was cited on Feb. 3 in connection with a shoplifting incident at a Target store in Bethel, police said.

Karin Marie Lanzarone, 58, of Limestone Road, was detained by store security before officers arrived at the Stony Hill Road location around 3:28 p.m., according to the Bethel Police Department. An investigation determined that Lanzarone had failed to scan or pay for multiple items before attempting to leave the store.

She was issued a misdemeanor summons for sixth-degree larceny and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 14.


A New Milford man was cited on Jan. 31 for driving with a suspended license and without valid insurance, police said.

Cody Tuz, 40, of Prospect Hill Road, was stopped by officers at approximately 10:08 a.m. near Greenwood Avenue and Front Street, according to the Bethel Police Department. A records check revealed that Tuz’s driver’s license had been suspended since Oct. 13, 2022.

He was issued a misdemeanor summons for operating under suspension and driving without minimum insurance. Tuz was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 10.


A Bethel woman was cited in connection with a shoplifting incident at a local Target store, police said.

Susan Spies, 67, of Meadow Lane, was issued a misdemeanor summons after Bethel police responded to a larceny complaint at the Target on Stony Hill Road around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 27. Following an investigation, authorities charged Spies with sixth-degree larceny under Connecticut law.

She was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 7


A New Milford man was cited on Jan. 13 for multiple motor vehicle violations, including driving with a suspended license and an unregistered vehicle, police said.

Michael Summa, 27, of Wellsville Avenue, was pulled over at approximately 11:46 a.m. while driving near Greenwood Avenue and Grassy Plain Street, according to the Bethel Police Department. Officers conducting traffic enforcement noticed his vehicle had a misused marker plate, unconfirmed insurance, and an expired registration.

A subsequent check revealed Summa’s driver’s license was suspended. He was issued a misdemeanor summons for operating under suspension, driving without sufficient insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and misuse of a marker plate. Summa was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 23


A Bethel man was charged Jan. 24 in connection with a hit-and-run crash earlier this month that left at least one person injured, police said.

Sean Sacrider, 40, of Fleetwood Avenue, was taken into custody after turning himself in at the Bethel Police Department. Authorities had obtained an arrest warrant following an investigation into a Jan. 10 crash at the intersection of Judd Avenue and Maple Avenue Extension. The vehicle involved fled the scene but was later identified, leading police to Sacrider.

He was charged with evading responsibility, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, and operating a motor vehicle under suspension. Sacrider was released on a $5,000 bond, of which he posted 7 percent, and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.


A 63-year-old Bethel man was cited on Jan. 16 for driving a car with a suspended registration and without valid insurance, authorities said.

Frank Ventrella of Walnut Hill Road was pulled over at approximately 9:42 a.m. on Greenwood Avenue while driving a 2015 Subaru Impreza, according to police. A check of the vehicle’s registration through the state’s COLLECT system revealed the registration was suspended due to insurance noncompliance.

Ventrella was issued a misdemeanor summons for the violations and released on a promise to appear in court. He was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Jan. 27.
