Bethel Police Blotter Highlights For Oct. 9 - Nov. 14

BETHEL, CT — Larceny and DUI were at the top of the Bethel Police Department's blotter this past month.

On Nov. 1 at 2:12 p.m., police stopped Sothearint Chuong, 33, of Plumtrees Road, after they say she ran a stop sign. Further investigation revealed that Chuong's driver's license was suspended and disqualified since Aug. 8, 202, according to police. Chuong was issued a misdemeanor summons for both violations, and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Nov. 14.

On Oct. 18 at 9:38 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on Grassy Plain Street. Officers found the vehicle and its driver, Segundo Juan Sanchez Cabrera, 34, on Henry Street, where he lives. While speaking with Sanchez Cabrera, police say they located several empty beer bottles in the vehicle, and conducted a DUI investigation.

Following the investigation, the officers charged Sanchez Cabrera with DUI. He was released after his family paid 7 percent of his $500 cash bond, and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior on Oct. 28.

Just before 6 p.m. on Oct. 18, police responded to the 7 Stony Hill Road Target for a larceny complaint. Following their investigation, they issued Michelle Veilleux, 27, of Birch Drive, a misdemeanor summons for sixth-degree larceny. She was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 25.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, police stopped motorist Freddy Portillo-Lopez, 40, of Grassy Plain Terrace and charged him with driving with a suspended license. Following the ensuing investigation, officers discovered a warrant had been issued for Portillo-Lopez after he failed to appear in court for an earlier violation outside Bethel. Police issued him a misdemeanor summons for the new motor vehicle violations, scheduled him for two dates at Danbury Superior Court, and released him after he posted his bond.

On Oct. 9, the Danbury Police Department notified their colleagues in Bethel they had apprehended New Milford resident Cheryl Crnecki, 42, who was wanted for two counts of fifth-degree larceny in Bethel. The crimes dated from Sept. 22 and 25, according to the police report. She was taken to Bethel Police HQ for processing, and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court the next day.
