Bethel Power Outages: Estimated Restoration Time Announced

Bethel officials provided an update on the status of the power outages, and the progress crews are making.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel remains one of the communities affected most by the recent storm, as thousands of residents remain without power. In an 11 a.m. update, the Bethel Emergency Management and Fire Marshal said 1,770 residents were without power.

At 2:25 p.m., First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker announced that Eversource estimates 100 percent power restoration by 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1. Power in houses may go on and off several time as crews make repairs.

"We have some large areas all on the same circuit affected as well as small populations in pockets with specific issues," Read the department's Facebook post.

Knickerbocker did not advise against trick-or-treating, but asked that parents avoid neighborhoods still without power and areas where damaged equipment is being repaired.

Residents in need of showers or a phone charging station can head to the municipal center, which will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The 11 a.m. update further stated crews are working the downtown areas generally, particularly Hoyts Hill Road towards Chestnut Ridge. The town placed a priority on the area due to the number of homes affected.

Crews are also working in the South Street area , which sustained major damage and required poles to be replaced. Call 1-800-286-2000 to report power outages
