Bethel’s Byrd’s Books Announces Spring Poetry Series
Byrd's Books' Spring Poetry series runs from March 10 through May 10.

Nearly every year Bethel’s Byrd’s Books has hosted a Spring Poetry series that features poets from all across Connecticut. On Sunday, March 10th at 4:00pm, the series will open with live readings at the independent bookstore by Gail Carson Levine, Nicole Caruso Garcia, Phillip K. Lu and Susan Campbell Bartoletti.

Gail Carson Levine's first book for children, Ella Enchanted, was a Newbery Honor Book. Levine's other books include New York Times’ bestsellers Ever and Fairest. She is also the author of the nonfiction books Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly and Writer to Writer: From Think to Ink.
Nicole Caruso Garcia serves as associate poetry editor at Able Muse and as an executive board member at Poetry by the Sea, an annual poetry conference. Her work has received the Willow Review Award, won a 2021 Best New Poets honor, and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.

Phillip K. Lu, CSU Distinguished Professor of Astronomy Emeritus, has published more than 100 research papers in astronomical journals, and translated and edited a half dozen books as well as ten volumes bilingual poetry collections. He is the recipient of Dr. Da-Yu Wu's Memorial Foundation Science Writer Prize.
Susan Campbell Bartoletti is the award-winning author of several books for young readers, including Black Potatoes: The Story of the Great Irish Famine, 1845-1850, winner of the Robert F. Sibert Medal.
“I think most of you know our fondness for poetry in all it's forms,” says Alice Hutchinson, owner of the popular literary hub. “This year we have added a virtual component to the series, via Zoom, which will open us up to attracting some poets from a distance, and we are very excited to expand our roster as we celebrate Springtime.”
Byrd’s Books’ Spring Poetry series runs through May 10th.
