Bethel Schools Superintendent Budget Request Detailed

The majority of the increase would support salaries, and cost Bethel $1 million.

Bethel Superintendent of Schools Christine Carver proposed a 2.36 budget increase for the 2016-2017 academic year to include higher salaries, which will cost the town an additional $1 million.

Salaries, which comprise two-thirds of the total proposed budget, would represent the majority of the increase, with 2.23 percent, NewsTimes reported.

The only proposed full-time hires are two math interventionists, for Berry and Rockwell elementary schools, NewsTimes reported, noting they will be tasked with drafting and implementing strategies to close the achievement gap in math.
