Bethel Supercross BMX To Host Free Olympic Day Race
It's a free race for all participants, with the top three riders in each age class awarded medals in an Olympic podium ceremony.
BETHEL, CT — Bethel Supercross BMX Track, in association with USA BMX and the U.S. Olympic Committee, will host a free Olympic Day Race on Wednesday, June 19. The race will be free for all participants and spectators.
"This is a completely free event and we invite everyone to come see what the great sport of BMX racing is all about," said Donald Olson, Track Director at Bethel Supercross BMX. "We have now been racing for 37 years and during that time we have introduced thousands of people to BMX. This year we have riders ranging from age one all the way up to 62 years old, proving BMX is a sport for all ages."
"BMX racing is on the comeback, in part driven by balance bike racing for kids ages one to five years old," added Olson. "Last week we had a turnout of 50 balance bike racers, all under age 5, which is the largest turnout in the country for riders this age. It’s great to see so many younger riders getting into the sport – and many are graduating to race pedal bikes, which is growing our attendance each week."
