Bethel Town Hearing Scheduled for Appropriation of $1.3M Town Funding for Hoyt's Hill Pump Station Upgrade

Funding for the new pump station in Bethel will come from bonding and bond anticipatory notes and temporary borrowing.

BETHEL, CT — From the Town of Bethel:

The Legal Voters of the Town of Bethel, Connecticut, and those persons entitled to vote therein, are notified to assemble at a Special Town Meeting to be held in the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center General Purpose Room, 1 School Street, Bethel, Connecticut 06801 on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. for the following purposes, to wit:

1.) To consider and take action upon a recommendation by the Public Utilities Commission and approved by the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance, to fund an amount, not to exceed $1,367,075 for the construction of the Hoyt's Hill Pump Station Upgrade, said sum includes the amount of construction of $1,253,905; oversight for engineering and administration in the amount of $48,070; and, a total project contingency of 5% in the amount of $65,100. Said funding shall come from bonding, bond anticipatory notes, temporary borrowing and/or other appropriation as recommended by the Comptroller to be reduced by any available grants obtained by the Town of Bethel and/or the Bethel Public Utilities Commission, if any.

Payment for the appropriated sums shall be made by the water account users of the Bethel Public Utilities Commission. Pursuant to Connecticut General Statute § 7-7, the Bethel Board of Selectmen by resolution on August 29, 2016 have removed this Item No. 1, funding for the construction of the Hoyt's Hill Pump Upgrade from a vote by the body of this Special Town Meeting and adjourned this vote to a Town wide machine vote to be held on the date as established by this body of the Special Town Meeting between the hours of twelve o'clock noon (12:00) PM and eight o'clock (8:00) PM unless the body of this Special Town Meeting approves earlier hours for the opening of the Town wide machine vote pursuant to Connecticut General Statute § 7-9b.

2.) To consider and take action upon a recommendation by the Public Utilities Commission and approved by the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance, to fund an amount not to exceed $995,867 for the replacement of the Maple Avenue Wells. Said sum includes the amount of construction of $893,467; oversight for engineering and administration in the amount of $87,400; and a total project contingency of $15,000. Said funding shall come from bonding, bond anticipatory notes, temporary borrowing and/or other appropriation as recommended by the Comptroller to be reduced by any available grants obtained by the Town of Bethel and/or the Bethel Public Utilities Commission, if any. Payment for the appropriated sums shall be made by the water account users of the Bethel Public Utilities Commission.

3.) To take any and all action legally necessary or appropriate to accomplish the above intended results. Dated at Bethel, CT this 29th day of August 2016.
