Bethel's Future Chefs Show Off Culinary Talent
Bethel Schools announces the winners of this year's Future Chefs competition.
The results are in for Bethel schools’ Future Chefs competition, with finalists from kindergarten through fifth grade receiving prizes.
Fifth grade Johnson School student Tessa Barrows took home first prize and a new GoPro Hero3 video camera with her bean salsa and grilled chicken wrap.
Frank A. Berry School second grader Hannah Stowell was awarded second prize and a basket of cooking accessories for her cheesy beans wrap.
Four other finalists placed in the competition and received gift baskets that include a 1-hour jump pass at the new SkyZone trampoline park in Bethel:
3rd Place - Julia Krepsztul - Grade 5 - "Catch of the Day"
4th Place - Luke Cassavechia - Grade 1 - "The Awesome Sandwich"
5th Place - Emily Baldwin- Grade 3 - "Emily's Taco Surprise"
6th Place - Emily Dykes - Kindergarten - "Emily's Chicken Salad Roll Up"
Bethel schools extended a special thanks to the Culinary Arts seniors who acted as "sous chefs" for our finalists: Chris Papp, Christian Denninger, Danielle Spinella, Robert Bornn, Morgan Schmid and Joe Marj.
These seniors will all receive a $100 scholarship from Sodexo on Scholarship Night for the participation in this event.
Thanks were also given to the judges — Betty Avery, Maggie Hults, Mari Lerz and Officer Tony Farina — and Culinary Arts teacher Ellen Brill, whose classroom was used for the event.
