The incident, which was caught on video, led to calls for a boycott and a call to the police.

BETHEL, CT — A local coffee house was at the center of a confederate flag controversy when one of their employees took a hat bearing the flag off the head of a performer and destroyed it, reports the News Times. The hat belonged to Stan Weston, a former Bethel native who is a part of the U.S. Air Force.
Weston was playing the banjo at the Molten Java coffee house when an employee walked up to him while he was performing, removed the hat, and cut it to pieces with a knife. The incident was caught on video and posted to Facebook, and police were called during the incident.
