'Hands Only' CPR Course Offered at Stony Hill Firehouse

The Stony Hill Fire Department invites residents to take time to learn lifesaving techniques to possibly save a life.

Bethel, CT — A "Hands Only CPR" public workshop hosted by the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company will be held on Saturday, July 23 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the firehouse, 59 Stony Hill Road, Bethel.

The workshop will emphasize the importance of taking two quick actions to help a person who collapses suddenly:

1. Call 911

2. Push hard and fast in the center of the person’s chest. That’s it. No mouth-to-mouth.

According to the American Heart Association, when a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on getting CPR immediately. Getting CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival, the AHA states.
