Dear Bethel,

Parloa Park Renovation
The Parloa Park renovation has begun! Expect work to be done in phases, so we appreciate patience as various parts of the park may be closed. For instance, the basketball court has been removed to begin work on an expanded playground. The court will be rebuilt in another location. Funding for the $1 million in improvements comes from a state grant and Bethel’s remaining ARPA funds.
Poet Laureate
In collaboration with Bethel Arts and the current Honorary Poet Laureate, we are looking for our next Honorary Poet Laureate! Honorary Poet Laureate is an unpaid position and it is appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The position is open to all Bethel residents over the age of 18. The Poet Laureate composes poems for special events and occasions and takes a leadership role in expanding the community’s appreciation of the magic of poetry and literature. To apply, click HERE.
Town Meeting
The Board of Selectmen voted to set a Town Meeting for Thursday, July 24th at 6 pm at Town Hall in meeting room A to vote on the recommendation of a single location for early voting in November. Our Voter Registrars designate the location for early voting, in our case it’s usually Meeting Room A in Town Hall. When the legislature created early voting, they required towns to have the legislative body determine whether to designate an additional location for early voting, which means we have a vote of the Town Meeting every year.
