Matthew Bölken DeTroy-Keyboards Matthew fell in love with music at an early age tinkling on the ivories whenever he got the chance and listening to music from Mozart to to Peter Paul and Mary. But it was seeing the Beatles at nine years old playing on the Ed Sullivan show February 9th 1964 that solidified him wanting to be a musician forever. He played bass, guitar and trombone. At 14 years old he started playing the piano and found the instrument he truly loved. Matt attended Berklee College of Music for one year and then ventured off the California to seek fame and fortune which lasted a few months. Came back to Connecticut, got married , raised a family, started a construction business and put my music career on hold. In 2001 he decided that I was still a musician and restarted his music career. Since then Matthew has played and recorded with many wonderful musicians. In 2004 he met Karen Johnstone on their mutual birthdays and they have made a lot of great music together since then. Matt presently works for two fantastic non profit organizations KEYS and CYP teaching music in Bridgeport to the next generation of musicians.
