Larceny, DUI and Moving Violations Top Bethel Police Arrest Log

BETHEL, CT —Police in Bethel stopped a robbery, along with plenty of motor vehicles, in the past couple of weeks.

On Feb. 19 just before 6 p.m., Bethel police officers were dispatched to 32 Henry Street for a motor vehicle complaint. During the investigation, the police learned that the motorist, a resident of Orange on Meadow Lane, was under the influence of alcohol, according to their report. The driver, 40, was charged with DUI and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 29.

On Feb. 20 at 10 minutes before noon, police report they saw a person walking down South Street whom they knew to have an active arrest warrant out of Norwalk. The officers placed the man, a 27-year-old resident of Grassy Plain Street, under arrest for second-degree failing to appear in court and held him on a $5,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court the next day.

On Feb. 12 at 6:45 p.m., police were called into the Target at 7 Stony Hill Road on a report of a theft in progress. The responding officers were able to arrest the man and woman, from Highland Avenue in Waterbury, and recover the stolen items, according to their report. The 36-year-olds were charged with fourth-degree larceny and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 20.

Around 4:38 p.m. on Feb. 23, police pulled over a white BMW for a motor vehicle violation on Stony Hill Road. During the stop, the officers discovered that the 38-year-old Payne Road resident had been driving with a suspended license. He was issued a misdemeanor summons and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 24.

Another motorist driving with a suspended license — and insufficient insurance — was pulled over by Bethel police at 4:36 p.m. on Feb. 19 along Old Hawleyville Road. The 26-year-old Waterbury man was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 29.

Police pulled over a Sandy Hook woman near 17 Stony Hill Road at 4:45 p.m. on March 1. The officers have reported that the 43-year-old had a suspended license, insufficient insurance, and her vehicle was not registered. She was issued a misdemeanor summons, and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 11.
