Letter: 'In Support Of Raghib Allie-Brennan'

"Throughout this past term, Raghib successfully pushed for the first substantial update to CT's Red Flag laws since 1999…"

Dear Editor,

As the mother of a victim of intentional violence I have devoted the last four years of my life to fighting for the rights of victims in Connecticut. My friend and neighbor, Raghib Allie-Brennan, has been a faithful ally in my fight and I’m writing to urge residents to vote for his reelection on November 8th.

Throughout this past term, Raghib successfully pushed for the first substantial update to CT's Red Flag laws since 1999 and was also able to move an entire caucus to modify the initial “Clean Slate” proposal with both logic and persuasion. He is always willing to listen to his constituents and, as of late, has been working with me to draft legislation that would make domestic violence and intimate partner murder have its own particular charge.

Over time I have found that the best part of working with Raghib on these issues is that I am able to see first hand his compassion, integrity, and intelligence. I trust him not only on these issues but on many others as well because he is not a mere “rubber stamp” politician taking the path of least resistance. Raghib brings dedication and experience to his role helping to provide space for the many voices we have lost, and their loved ones, to be heard.

I will be voting to reelect Raghib Allie-Brennan on November 8th, and I encourage everyone in the Second District to do the same.

Sincerely,
