Bethel police said a man disturbed a Girl Scout cookie sale table and knocked over polling materials before he spat on a cop.

BETHEL, CT — If you thought your neighbors and friends were angry about the elections, check out what a Bethel man did at the polling places on election night. Police said a Bethel man was arrested on November 9, 2016, one day after police said he created a disturbance on election night and then spit on a police officer when they tried to arrest him.

Police arrested Brian Mansfield after issuing him a misdemeanor summons related to a disturbance he created on Nov. 8 at an election polling place. Police said Mansfield disrupted voting operations, was disruptive with polling staff, disturbed a Girl Scout cookie sale table and intentionally knocked over polling location materials. When Mansfield was issued the summons at his residence on Nov. 9, police said he spat into the face of a uniformed Police Officer and was then placed under arrest.

Mansfield was routinely processed at Bethel Police Headquarters but refused to be fingerprinted which resulted in an additional charge. Mansfield is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at 9:30 a.m. on November 22, 2016.
