New Van Gives Transportation Option For Bethel Seniors: Report

Bethel's seniors now have a transportation option free of charge.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel's senior and disabled population now has free way to get around town and beyond, reports the News Times. Riders can now take a new van service, which will be free of charge but will accept donations.

The town acquired the van with the help of a $55,000 state grant. Seniors can call the Senior Center to schedule the bus to pick them up for doctor's appointments, haircuts and more.

Senior Center Director Lisa Plumb projects the Senior Center's 1,400-person membership will grow due to the van service. The town will continue to pay for the SweetHart Bus Service.
