Obituary: Sandra (Kirk) Blauvelt, 87, Formerly Of Bethel

BETHEL, CT — Sandra (Kirk) Blauvelt, age 87, formerly of Bethel, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023 at her home. She was the widow of Thomas C. Blauvelt.

She was born in Danbury, June 21, 1936 a daughter of the late Marion S. and Albert S. Kirk. Sandra was a homemaker for 16 years and then was employed by the State of Connecticut Fairfield Hills Hospital, from which she retired in 1995 as a Forensic Service Clerk. She was then employed in the office of Alan Thompson DC for seven years, retiring fully in 2002.

Her passion was spending time with her family, especially enjoying the time spent with her 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Sandy was an avid reader and took pleasure in cross stitching, knitting and cooking. She also enjoyed trips to the casino with her daughter Lisa.

Sandra is survived by her sister: Barbara Dann of Danbury; and her 4 children: Thomas Blauvelt and his wife Jean of Watertown, Joan Orzech and her husband Tom of New Milford, Lisa Blauvelt of Danbury, and Edward Blauvelt and his partner Mary Stivala of Hampstead, NC.

She will be sorely missed by her cat Precious, whom she loved to cater to and spoil.

Sandra was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bethel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church at 46 Main Street, Bethel, CT 06801.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel, Wednesday morning at 11:30. There are no calling hours. The Bethel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
