BETHEL, CT —Van Gogh, the one-eared painting dog phenomenon, is back, breaking records and winning hearts.

When we last left our hero, Van Gogh was goofily grinding out art — some fine, some a bit "ruff" — for the benefit of his family at Happily Furever Rescue in Bethel through online auctions.

Since then, the 7-year-old boxer/pit mix has found his forever home and caught the eye of market-leading pet food company PEDIGREE, and the PEDIGREE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity that supports shelters and rescue organizations.

The PEDIGREE Brand and PEDIGREE Foundation are bringing Van Gogh back for a one-engagement-only encore on Friday, Mar. 3, when his paintings will again be live for bidding at an online auction. Proceeds raised from the auction will go directly to Happily Furever After Rescue.

The PEDIGREE people have already gotten the ball rolling with a $10,000 advance bid for Dog Van Gogh’s "Starry Night" (see above). Canine art aficionados speculate that makes the pup's magnum opus one of the most expensive pieces of artwork ever created by a dog.

"The PEDIGREE Brand and PEDIGREE Foundation are committed to ending pet homelessness and the $10,000 bid will support Happily Furever After Rescue as the organization aims to help the dogs they support find their forever homes," organizers said in a statement.
