Police Dispel Rumors of ICE Activity in Bethel, Confirm Drug Arrest and Seizure

Bethel police deny reports of ICE arrests, confirming a drug-related search warrant led to one arrest and drug seizure.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel police are pushing back against false reports circulating on social media that claimed federal immigration agents were in town and had detained several people.

In a statement Wednesday, the department said there were no Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents operating in Bethel and that three people were not detained by the agency, contrary to online rumors.

Police clarified that what actually occurred was a local drug investigation. Bethel officers, with assistance from the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division and Brookfield police, executed a search warrant at a residence that resulted in at least one arrest. Authorities said they seized fentanyl, cocaine and cash during the operation.
