Rep. Harding Named MADD Legislator of the Year

Rep. Harding represents the 107th district of Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury.

HARTFORD – State Rep. Stephen Harding (R-107), who was recently honored with the Public Policy Award from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Organization of Connecticut, is again being recognized by the organization.

Sixty-Nine lawmakers from around the country are being awarded “Legislator of the Year” awards for sharing MADD’s mission of eliminating the 100 percent preventable crime of drunk driving. Rep. Harding is one of the main legislators, who worked to enact Public Act 16-182, which institutes a Diversionary Program for drivers under 21 who have committed violations and crimes relating to underage drinking; and Public Act 16-126, concerning child passenger endangerment while driving under the influence.

“I am grateful to the MADD Organization for this great honor,” said Rep. Harding. “With more than 10,000 drunken driving-related deaths occurring each and every year in America, I feel that any small way in which I can help further MADD’s will greatly assist in keeping myself and my neighbors safe on our roads throughout the community.”
