Connecticut State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan is proud to announce that bonding for the revitalization of Parloa Park has been added to the state’s bonding agenda, scheduled to be officially approved at the October 22nd bonding meeting. This major achievement will transform the park into a modern, versatile recreational space, addressing the growing needs of the downtown Bethel community. The project has been a collaborative effort between Allie-Brennan, Bethel First Selectman Carter, and the Bethel Parks & Recreation Commission.

"Securing this funding took a great deal of persistence, especially with the Governor’s heavy focus on business development," said Allie-Brennan. "However, I want to express my deep appreciation to the Governor’s office for ultimately supporting this important community investment and want to thank Speaker of the House Matt Ritter and Bonding Chair Ron Napoli for listening to our case and making this a priority. The addition of Parloa Park’s revitalization to the bonding agenda is a critical step toward ensuring that our downtown residents have access to a quality recreational space within walking distance."

The Town of Bethel is experiencing unprecedented growth, much of which is centered around the newly implemented Transit-Oriented Zoning District (TOD). With this rapid development come challenges, including the lack of recreational spaces in the growing downtown area. Parloa Park, which has not seen significant updates in decades, is the only outdoor recreational facility within walking distance of the TOD zone, making it a critical resource for the community.

"As Bethel grows, we must ensure that we are building a community that people of all ages can enjoy. The enhancements to Parloa Park will be a game-changer for downtown Bethel, offering a needed outlet for recreation and bringing people together," added Allie- Brennan.

The revitalization will create a space that caters to all age groups, providing much-needed recreational opportunities for Bethel’s increasingly crowded neighborhoods. With this project, Parloa Park is set to become a cornerstone of downtown Bethel’s future, serving both current and new residents in the heart of the community.
