The grassroots campaign was supported by nearly 400 donors – 85% of which live in Bethel, Easton, Fairfield and Newtown – with an average contribution of $45.
“I want to thank everyone for their support and the volunteers who helped our campaign reach this critical milestone in just over five weeks. The generosity and encouragement we received from residents of the 28th District has meant so much. It has also created early momentum that we can build on over the coming months. State and local leaders, Democrats, Republicans, unaffiliated voters, and individuals who have never given to campaigns before have all stepped up and joined our effort, which is why it’s clear our message is resonating,” said Rob.

CEP provides clean elections financing to qualified candidates for statewide offices and the General Assembly. To qualify for CEP, candidates must demonstrate that they have adequate support from the public by raising an aggregate amount of small-dollar monetary contributions from individuals between $5 and $320. For the State Senate, 300 of the donations received must come from in-district donors and candidates must raise a total of $17,300.
“Now the hard work begins. I’ll be spending the coming weeks and months crisscrossing the district, knocking on doors, hearing from residents about the issues that are most important to them and working to earn their vote,” said Rob.
