Select YMCA’s Offering Election Day Child Care So Parents Can Vote

From Y-USA Zoe’s Kids Day Out Initiative:

CHICAGO (November 7, 2016) — With less than 24 hours until polls open nationwide, YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) is reminding all parents and caregivers that they can bring kids to the Y while they vote, thanks to the Zoe’s Kids Day Out initiative.

On Election Day, participating Ys across the country will open their doors for short-term child care as part of this nationwide initiative. As the largest nonprofit provider of child care in the United States, the Y helps nurture our nation's children and encourage them to learn and grow. Supporting parents and caregivers is a crucial component of nurturing children, and Zoe's Kids Day Out initiative is yet another way the Y is aiming to lend a hand; the same way it has been helping communities across the country for over 160 years.

“The opportunity to participate in the democratic process is important, and we hope the Y’s initiative enables many busy parents and caregivers to vote knowing their children are in a safe, fun environment” said Kevin Washington, President and CEO, YMCA of the USA.

Participation in the Zoe’s Day Out initiative varies among Ys across the country. Details about Election Day child care services including availability, registration requirements, time limits and associated costs vary and can be provided by contacting local Ys ymca.net/find-your-y.

Zoe's Kids Day Out initiative is part of Zoe's larger "Rattle the Vote" campaign to encourage voter participation. Another component of "Rattle the Vote" is a customizable social media video generator (available at ZoeforPresident.net) that enables users to create "Get Out the Vote" video messages from Zoe that can be shared with their friends and family on social media channels.
