Social Media Post Of Bethel Candidate's Son Sparks Resignation: Report
A local politician has dropped out of the Board of Education race and resigned from a current town position.

BETHEL, CT -- A local democrat has resigned his seat from the Energy Conservation Commission and dropped out of the school board race after a picture of his four-year-old son was posted on a town Facebook page. Rick Magee told the News Times he never saw the post, but penned his resignation after learning about it.
The post showed a picture of the boy in a Peppa The Pig hat, which poster and former resident Matt Paulsen called a "pussy hat" in reference to those worn during the Women's March. Paulsen apologized for the post.
The chairmen of both town party committees condemned the post, but Magee was critical of Republican Town Committee Chairman Bill Hillman for not acting sooner to remove the post.
