The official tree lighting is scheduled for Sunday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m.

BETHANY - On November 24, colorful Christmas lights were placed on the huge evergreen tree that has been growing next to the Bethany Historical Center on Round Hill Road for over 80 years.

Members of the Russell family headed to the property to keep the tradition going, overseeing the process on putting lights on the close to 100 foot Christmas tree in Bethany.

Amy DeCosta Foster Meier, who serves on the board of the Historical Society, explained that the evergreen began as a tabletop Christmas tree that was given by her grandmother to her grandmother. The tiny tree was planted outside at least 81 years ago and has grown to the massive size that it is today.
