Police: Worker Stole $12k Worth of Jewelry From Woodbridge Home

Police say the Waterbury man was working for a moving company when he stole the jewelry.

An investigation by Woodbridge Police led to the arrest of a Waterbury man on charges that he stole more than $12,000 worth of jewelry from a resident's house.

Police said the man was working for a moving company at the time of the theft, on July 25, 2013, and that he had been in the victim's house during the normal course of his job. The homeowner contacted police after she noticed the jewelry was missing.

The man, Miguel Acevedo, 31, was arrested by warrant March 5 on a charge of first-degree larceny — a felony.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 2. According to the state Judicial Branch website, Acevedo is being held on a $15,000 bond. No plea has been entered in the case.
