2 Men Charged After Drug Trafficking Investigation By DEA, Branford PD

Michael Conant, 41, and Eduardo Carmona, 35, face drug charges as 70 bags of "suspected" heroin and crack tested positive for fentanyl: PD

BRANFORD, CT —Branford police charged two men Wednesday with drug trafficking following a local, and federal investigation.

Branford police and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration had an active investigation underway in the area of Harbor and Maple streets "to address ongoing narcotics sales," police said.

Branford policed said they "identified and apprehended" Michael Conant, 41, of Branford, and Eduardo Carmona, 35, of New Haven.

Police said the probe and arrest were followed by the seizure of 37 baggies of suspected heroin, that tested positive for Fentanyl, 29 baggies of suspected crack cocaine, that also tested positive for Fentanyl, and over $2,000 in cash.

Carmona was charged with two counts of sales of a narcotic substance, his third offense, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, his third offense.

Conant was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court Feb. 6.
